Why San Antonio kitchens pick quartz
Quartz is the countertop we sell most at our Bandera Rd showroom. It is an engineered surface — roughly 90–95% ground quartz bound with resin — so the color and pattern you approve are the color and pattern you get on every run, which makes it easy to plan a whole kitchen before anything is cut.
- Never needs sealing. The surface is non-porous, so coffee, wine and cooking oil wipe off instead of soaking in.
- A predictable look. Long runs and islands match from piece to piece, with no surprises between the sample and the slab.
- Stain and scratch resistant. Everyday care is mild soap and water — just skip harsh abrasives.
- Marble looks, less upkeep. Calacatta- and Carrara-style quartz gives you the veining without marble’s maintenance.
The one caution is heat. The resin in quartz can scorch or discolor under direct high heat, so keep trivets or hot pads next to the cooktop. If you move pots straight from the stove to the counter, granite is the more forgiving stone — the full trade-off is in our granite vs quartz comparison.

Quartz or quartzite? The names are close; the materials are not. Quartz is engineered. Quartzite is 100% natural stone with a marble-like look — harder than granite and heat-resistant — and like other natural stone it needs a periodic seal. Pairing quartz with the cabinet finishes we keep in stock
Shaker White, Shaker Gray and Navy Blue are the three finishes we keep in stock (the other 33 of our 36 finishes arrive in 1–2 weeks), and quartz works with all three:
- Shaker White — a white or gray quartz with soft veining reads clean and current. Give an all-white kitchen one darker element, such as the hardware or a veined slab, so it doesn’t go flat.
- Shaker Gray — a creamy or white quartz keeps a gray kitchen bright and contemporary.
- Navy Blue — a white or light-gray quartz keeps the contrast crisp, whether the whole kitchen is navy or just the island.
The rule of thumb from our cabinet color guide: only one of the two should be busy. Because quartz is so consistent, it is the easier partner for a strong cabinet color.
How a quartz countertop job works

Template
We measure the installed cabinets precisely so seams, the sink and the overhangs land exactly right.
Fabricate
The top is cut and edged, with cutouts for the sink, cooktop and faucet. Choose the edge now: eased, beveled, bullnose, ogee or waterfall.
Install
Our own crews set the top, join the seams and anchor an undermount sink, usually in one day. Allow 24–48 hours before running the sink at full pressure.
Installation by our crews carries our 3-year workmanship warranty in the greater San Antonio area, and your quote gives the timeline for your job.
